It is identified and implemented around the world with fast developing global organizations or multi national organizations the concept of diverse workforce. The concept discussed and explained by many and recognized the value in terms of getting benefited and calculated as a kind of a concept of a assert.
The understanding or introducing the real meaning of diverse is matters significantly.
"any significant difference that distinguished one individual from another". Kreitz, (2008)
While recruiting people for a organization which is having a global connections most of the time following to have different kind of a people in age,gender,ethnicity,nationality,education level,work status etc in order to have different kind of ideas and moves which will help the organizational goals achieved. globalization and migration can be identified as the main causes for the improved importance of diversity in organizations.
New innovations,problem solving abilities fostering creativity and satisfied solutions by diversified groups or individuals and connection to work of the concept discussed deeply and values and benefits described with positive and negative out comes by Podsiadlowski, (2012).
Marriott international,Hubspo,Strker,SAP are some global examples practicing the concept in a successful manner and recognized among the top ranking organizations in the world.
When it comes to local perspectives of the concept there are some examples in my own TEA industry by recruiting people from different social levels, educational levels and skill levels different ethnicity and different age levels as well as gender differences.
Benefits by the application of the concept to the industry can be identified as follow.
better understanding of diverse market
diverse market demand targeting
free to recruit talented people without restrictions
less turn overs and absentees
Employing people from estate sector as staff members always gives positive impact to the organization by the understandings of estate workers needs and background while making comfortable platform to discuss the matters in their own language.
Executive officers or Superintendents in a estate who comes from outside of the estate sector with different backgrounds and different education levels always give new ideas in side and innovations to the organization and the top or cooperate management who's having different views and experiences from other government and private industries and foreign experiences making high and plus outputs to the organization in terms of achieving company needs.
There are some challenges also could be occurred while dealing with diverse team of people when it comes to cultural or religious matters which has to be carefully handled considering as sensitive matters.
"leaders need to achieve a balance between the human needs of diverse groups and the business objectives". Velma etal., (2004)
Conclusion.
Diverse of workforce in a organization can be considered or recommended as a positive movement to maintain sustainable organization with satisfied team of members which has to be improved and introduced to other industries in the country as well in terms of creating a energetic and innovative mindset of the workforce in Sri lanka.

ReplyDeleteIn my point of view, organizations get more benifited when they recruit young, enthusiastic crowd. They fulfill with new ideas, more energy, and also, with comparing to others, theie educational level is higher. Nowadays we can see lot of female employees working in different sectors such as engineering, banking and landscaping since earlier those were mostly engaged by male employees.

Bringing people with different backgrounds, various talents, different thinking, different religions, and perspectives leads to better decision making, innovations and a higher connection in the workplace and it can enhance the reputation of the company and make it easier to attract top talent.

Such that, diversification of the workforce is also an important factor since it creates an environment to sustain the performance of the organization by facing different challenges through different answers which in return support the organization to sustain its performance.
